Catkin Original Watercolour Artwork

£55.00

Catkins blow in the breeze and release clouds of yellow pollen to fertilise the tiny red flowers. This February 2019 watercolour was inspired by the Hazel catkins (Corylus avellana) I run past in the local park. I watched the tightly packed 'lamb's tails' slowly expand into the long tendrils - an early sign of Spring. The male catkins pollinate the tiny female flowers, which will eventually form hazelnuts. A perfect gift to remind you and your loved ones that new growth and longer days are just around the corner.

The artwork is signed and dated by me, Agnes Becker. (The 'test' catkins at the bottom of the page can be cut off if requested).
