This November, we are stardust sponsored Circle of Pine Trees #littlestoriesofmylife gallery on instagram. Laura, curator of Circle of Pine Trees, started the hastag for celebrating and/or sharing the tiniest elements of the stories of our lives. Small doesn’t equate to insignificant: these are the little moments that add up to the narratives that carry us all.
Two hundred beatuiful images were tagged in the #littlestoriesofmylife_wearestardust hashtag, with the winner receiving a box of 30 we are stardust Christmas cards where art and science collide.
These are the runners up:
Clockwise from top right: @blowyinthewind, @lovelylollyb, @_charlieswift, @harryandfrank, @helloquietx, @hellomistermagpie, @_charlieswift, @harryandfrank, @lillalivetandme
I chose these images because each square evokes a story. I can imagine the mood o the person who took the photo. And each one reflects the we are stardust values of wilderness, sophistication and loyalty. A flicker of history and past lives as you look through an old castle window, the peaceful afternoon slumber of a loved one, the family preparation of festivities and the wilderness of nature misting up windows and bringing mystery as it tumbles into the home.
The winner, was this shot by Lou of @littlegreenshed. The photo reminds me of my Mum and Dad’s home where nature was close by. The skull makes me think of a naturalist collector; I remember examining skulls as part of my anthropology practicals at university. I still find it incredible that we can build up a picture of an animal or anciient hominid species based on its skeleton. We are stardust is all about celebrating the fantastic beasts on our Earth. Also I identify a lot with the caption as I am a huge Harry Potter fan! If I had kids I’d probably me more excited than they would be about seeing Fantastic Beasts too.
@littlegreenshed: ‘It’s the weekend, we made it through that nightmare week. This afternoon we are off to the cinema to see ‘Fantastic Beasts’. I’m more excited than the kids! What are up to today? #aconsideredhome #natureinthehome
Congratulations to all those selected and a big thank you to Laura at Circle of Pine Trees for the opportinuty to colaborate. I have learned a lot about why certain instagram images capture the imagination - the capturing of a fleeting moment in a person's day that is both curated and not too ordered that makes the viewer create a story they identify with.
Finally, thank you to everyone who tagged their images. The #littlestoriesofmylife gallery is a wonderful space to lose a few moments. Please do continue to share your small stories.
